Standards. Participants will examine practical 
strategies to teach grammar in context and 
strengthen students’ analytical thinking and writing 
skills across genres and scaffolds designed to deepen 
student engagement and improve outcomes in

This course equips teachers and instructional coaches 
to implement the ELA standards with intentional 
differentiation for ESE, ELL, and Gifted learners. 
Grounded in the belief that rigor should be preserved 
— not reduced — participants will examine the 
cognitive demands of the new standards and identify 
strategic access points for diverse learners. Educators 
will explore practical, standards-aligned supports that 
strengthen executive functioning, academic language 
development, and complex thinking within Tier 1 
instruction. By the end of the session, teachers and 
coaches will leave with a revised literacy lesson, a 30-
day implementation goal, and clear look-fors to move 
students from access to mastery.

The Georgia K–5 ELA Standards Text Domain session 
equips teachers with a clear understanding of how 
opinion, narrative, and informative (expository) texts 
develop across grade levels. Participants will explore 
the purpose, structure, and progression of each text 
type while examining how standards-aligned 
instruction strengthens comprehension, analysis, and 
evidence-based responses. Through collaborative 
discussion and practical application, teachers will 
deepen their understanding of how to intentionally 
plan instruction that builds vocabulary, critical 
thinking, and meaningful engagement with text. This 
session empowers educators with clarity and 
confidence to support students in navigating, 
analyzing, and responding effectively to a wide range 
of texts.
