The Systematic & Explicit Phonics Instruction 
session develops participants’ understanding of 
how systematic and explicit phonics instruction 
supports accurate decoding and word 
recognition. Aligned to Structured Literacy and 
Georgia’s ELA standards, participants will 
engage in hands-on learning to explore 
phoneme-grapheme relationships, blending, 
segmenting, and word reading routines. Through 
modeling, guided practice, and real-world 
application, paraprofessionals will learn how to 
support phonics instruction with clarity and 
consistency. Participants will leave equipped 
with practical tools and strategies to reinforce 
decoding skills and support all students in 
becoming confident, capable readers.

learning, modeling, and guided practice, 
paraprofessionals will learn how to support 
questioning, discussion, and meaning-making 
during reading. Participants will leave with 
practical, ready-to-implement strategies to 
support comprehension and help all students

composition through explicit and systematic 
instruction. Through modeling, guided 
application, and interactive practice, 
paraprofessionals will explore strategies that 
support students in expressing ideas clearly and 
confidently. Participants will leave with practical 
tools and routines they can immediately use to 
support writing development for all learners.
